ABOUT Kali Mirch Kaleji.. (Liver black pepper gravy) RECIPE

A yummy side dish to go with parathas and rotis or naans for breakfast. This can be served on the day of Eid or during celebrations that follow it. Made easily with simple spices, it tastes delicious. Freshly ground pepper gives it a very lovely aroma and taste as well. The amount of it added depends upon one's liking and thus can make it accordingly. Happy Eid Ul Fitr!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Mutton liver 500 gm
  2. Onions chopped 2
  3. Salt 1 tbsp
  4. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  5. Blackpepper ground freshly 1 tbsp
  6. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  8. Oil 3 tbsp
  9. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  10. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4 cup
  11. Garam masala 1/2 tsp (for garnishing)


  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  2. Saute onions at first with ginger garlic paste.
  3. Add liver cut into bite sized pieces along with the rest of the spices including salt.
  4. Saute until 5 minutes on a medium high heat.
  5. Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 8 to 10 whistles.
  6. Let the pressure settle down before opening the lid.
  7. Saute it on a high heat and adjust salt now if required.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sprinkle garam masala.
  9. Serve this as a yummy side dish with parathas or naans for breakfast or dinner on Eid.
