About ilish korma Recipe

a rich & flavourful delicacy cooked with the king of the fish Hilsa

ilish korma

Ingredients to make ilish korma

  • hilsa fish 1.2 kg
  • ten green cardamoms
  • types cloves
  • to sticks cinnamon
  • 1 onion finely chopped(or beresta)
  • 12 cashew nuts(soaked in milk(
  • 10 roasted almonds
  • 3 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 TBSP garlic PASTE
  • turmeric one teaspoon
  • one teaspoon Garam masala
  • one teaspoon mace and green cardamom powder
  • half teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 1 cup yoghurt or dahi
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • half teaspoon saffron
  • salt
  • lime juice 2 tbspn
  • bay leaves 2
  • coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Slitted green chilli
  • White oil
  • 150 mg ghee

How to make ilish korma

  1. clean the fish pieces
  2. smeared with salt & lime juice, keep aside
  3. dessolve the saffron environment
  4. make a paste with almond and cashew
  5. heat half of the day and white oil 2 tablespoon
  6. at cardamom Clove Cinnamon and Bay leaves
  7. saute at medium heat until they begin to crackle
  8. at the onions,saute untill brown (or u can use beresta using at the top over the dish)
  9. at the ginger and garlic paste and copy until the moisture has evaporated
  10. add the grounded paste of Almonds and cashews add salt
  11. now the remaining ghee,garam masala piwder,saute
  12. place the marinated fish pieces over it and coat with the masala over the fish.. cook for 2 min
  13. whisk the dahi and pour over the pan and mix with the masala with a ladle
  14. at the slated green chillies and pepper powder, stir a bit
  15. cover and cook over simmer about 3 min
  16. turn off the flame
  17. add mace & green cardamom powder and saffron milk
  18. stir & remove to a serving dish
  19. garnish with coriander leaves

My Tip:

keep d head & tail piece out,cook with the ring pieces.u can cook without onion also,it's just make d gravy more thick.
