This is a dhaba style tarka dal, cooked with chicken . A perfect accompaniment with roti or naan on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Boiled Mah ki dal 1 1/2 cups
  2. Chicken cut in small pieces 4
  3. Eggs 3
  4. Chopped onions 2
  5. Grated garlic 3 teaspoon
  6. Onion chopped 2 medium
  7. Jeera powder 2 teaspoon
  8. Haldi powder 1teaspoon
  9. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Kashmiri lal mirch 1 teaspoon
  11. Chopped green chillies 2
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Coriander leaves to garnish
  14. Oil 2 tablespoons


  1. Heat oil and toss in chopped onion, garlic and tomatoes. Fry well
  2. Add salt and green chillies. Saute well.
  3. Add Haldi powder and jeera powder. Fry well
  4. Put in the chicken pieces and mix the masala nicely.
  5. Cover and cook in low flame.
  6. Add little water and cook till chicken is tender
  7. Beat the eggs and add in the chicken. Fold in nicely
  8. Pour the boiled dal and mix well on high flame
  9. Add Kashmiri lal mirch and mix
  10. Bring it to boil and add garam masala powder. Cover and put off the gas
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves.
