ABOUT Dahi Ichar Chingri RECIPE

This is a delicious curry made with prawns, to be served with some steamed rice on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Oil 2 tbsp
  2. Tok dahi [sour curd] 100 gms
  3. raw jack fruit - 2 cups [chopped]
  4. Tomato 1
  5. Potato - 2 [cubed into 4]
  6. medium sized prawns 200 gms
  7. cardamom - 1
  8. cinnamon - 1
  9. salt 2 tbsp
  10. Tej pata [bayleaf] - 1
  11. Sugar 1 tsp
  12. turmeric powder 2 tsp
  13. Onion 2 [chopped]
  14. Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  15. Coriander + cumin powder 2 tsp
  16. Red chilly powder 1 tsp
  17. Bullet green chili 3
  18. Coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  19. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  20. Fresh cream 1 tsp
  21. Ghee 1 tsp
  22. water - 4 cup

Instructions

  1. Clean, devein and wash the prawns. Keep aside.
  2. Then marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, salt and curd in a bowl for 30 minutes.
  3. Now heat a pan with some oil, add the marinated prawns and slightly fry them. Strain and keep them aside.
  4. Now fry the potato pieces in the oil and keep aside as well.
  5. Now pressure cook the raw jack fruit pieces with some salt and turmeric powder with required amount of water.
  6. Now in the pan, heat some oil. Add sugar to the oil to caramelize and then add the cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaf. Let these smell.
  7. Now add the cumin seeds followed by the chopped onion.
  8. Saute and then add the chopped tomatoes. cook until mushy enough.
  9. Now add the ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  10. Now add the powdered masalas and salt. Mix well and cook further.
  11. Now add the boiled raw jack fruit pieces and the fried prawns.
  12. Now add the fried potatoes. add required amount of water and let these cook and get boiled. Finally add the green chillies, cream and coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice.
