Hilsa fish in mustard paste....Its an authentic bengali fish curry.

Sorshe Ilish

Ingredients to make Sorshe Ilish

  • mustard seeds 4 table spoon
  • Whole green chilly 2 pc
  • Hilsa fish
  • turmeric Powder
  • salt
  • mustard oil

How to make Sorshe Ilish

  1. First wash the fish and marinate it with turmeric powder, salt and little bit mustard oil
  2. Grind the mustard seeds with salt and leave it for 30 mins or you can use ready made mustard powder.
  3. Pour mustard oil (heavy amount)on a hot kadhai.Now dip the marinated fish in the mustard past and put it into the kadhai slowly.
  4. Then pour rest of the mustard paste in the kadhai and add some whole green chilly.
  5. Now cover the kadhai with a lid and leave it for 25 mins.
  6. When the fish turns soft, put off the gas and sprinkle some lemon juice on the fish.
