About Suji balls Recipe

Heard so much about these suji balls that I had to try them.

Suji balls

Ingredients to make Suji balls

  • Suji 2 cups
  • water 3 Cups
  • Black pepper pwdr 1/2 tbsp
  • ginger 1 inch grated
  • For tempering
  • Rai 1 tsp
  • Zeera 1 tsp
  • Currypatta 1 sprig
  • urad dal 1 tbsp
  • oil 2 tsp
  • Sambhar pwdr 2 tbsp
  • Kadampodi 1 tbsp( I used curry leaves )

How to make Suji balls

  1. Boil 3 cups water in a pan add the black pepper and grated ginger
  2. Add the suji and mix well
  3. Cover and let it rest for 5 mins
  4. Oil your hands and when the suji is still hot , make small balls
  5. Place the suji balls on a slotted thali and steam the balls for 20mins
  6. You can use a idlistand as well to steam. them
  7. FOR TEMPERING: Add oil on a kadai
  8. Add the rai, zeera,currypatta,urad dal
  9. Now add the Sambhar pwdr and kadampodi and mix
  10. Add the suji balls and mix well
  11. All the suji balls should be coated with the tempering
  12. Serve warm. As such no chutney needed

My Tip:

Do not burn the rai as it will tatse bitter.Sprinkle little water in the tempering b4 adding the balls so it wont burn
