Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 4 ounces butter
  2. 1 egg
  3. 1 cup chopped dates Khajur
  4. 2 cups flour
  5. 1 cup sugar
  6. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  7. 2 teaspoon baking powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  10. 1/2 cup coconut(dessicated)
  11. 1 cup hot water
  12. For filling:-1 tbsp butter
  13. 1/2 cup sugar
  14. 1/2 cup coconut(dessicated)
  15. 1/2 cup khajoor chopped dates
  16. 1/2 cup water
  17. 1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  18. some chopped almonds to decorate


  1. Pour hot water over dates and baking soda
  2. Leave aside for sometime
  3. Beat the egg nicely add butter and sugar to it
  4. Stir in date mixture and add Vanilla essence, salt and coconut
  5. Stir in sifted flour and baking powder
  6. Preheat Convection mode at 180 degrees for 10 minutes and when it beeps place the cake tin inside
  7. Set the convection mode for 30 to 40 minutes at same 180 degrees
  8. for filling:-
  9. cook sugar, cocoa, butter, dates and water until thick, add coconut to be spread between the two cake layers, decorate top of cake with chocolate icing and put some almonds on top
  10. Cut & Serve at room temperature
