ABOUT Prawn Malaikari RECIPE

It’s a traditional bengal delicacy where Big size Prawn cooked in coconut sauce .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. prawns -200gm
  2. Cumin whole -1/2 tbsp
  3. Cumin powder-1/2 tbsp
  4. Turmeric -1 tbsp
  5. Ginger paste -1 tbsp
  6. Coconut milk -1 cup
  7. Coconut paste -2 tbsp
  8. Garam Masala -1/2 tbsp
  9. Ghee -1 tbsp
  10. Chilli powder -1/2 tbsp
  11. Green chilli -1
  12. Sugar -2 tbsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. mustard oil as required

Instructions

  1. Marinate the prawns with turmeric and salt
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and 1 tbsp of sugar and sauté
  3. Add lil turmeric , cumin powder , ginger paste and chilli powder and again sauté in a low flame .
  4. Add the prawns and green chilly and mix the Masala well . When the Masala mixed well add the prawns ,salt and 1 more spoon full of sugar and the coconut milk and cook in a low flame
  5. After few minutes add the left over coconut crushed into the curry to give it a greasy texture .
  6. Sprinkle garam Masala and spoon full of ghee and serve with hot rice
