Italian Focaccia Bread

Ingredients to make Italian Focaccia Bread

  • flour 500 gm
  • Lukewarm milk 300 ml
  • Dried yeast 1 3/4 tsp
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • olive oil 2 tbsp
  • salt 2 tsp
  • For topping:
  • Fresh basil 1/4 cup
  • olive Oil 1/4 cup
  • Rosemary 1 tsp
  • Chopped garlic 1tbsp

How to make Italian Focaccia Bread

  1. Mix the yeast along with sugar & lukewarm milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Keep the flour aside. Pour yeast mixture in the centre of the flour, add salt, oil & make a soft dough.
  3. Put dough in greased vessel to prove till almost double in size.
  4. Knock down the dough with remaining flour.
  5. Take baking tray and grease it. Roll the dough in rectangular shape. Keep in the baking tray for proving for 1 hour.
  6. Make holes with finger brush with Olive oil, topping oil and put some black olives also.
  7. Bake in pre heated oven at 200 C for 25 minutes.
  8. Serve with soup or make a sandwich with it.
  9. Topping oil:
  10. Cook fresh basil, rosemary, garlic in 1/4 cup Olive oil for 3 minutes. Cool it down. Brush this oil on dough before baking.

My Tip:

After removing bread from oven cover it with dry cloth immediately, this will keep bread soft.
