ABOUT Potol postu RECIPE

This is a pointed gaurd recipe which is made with poppy seeds paste. Traditional dish of bengal.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 3 pointed gaurds
  2. 2 potatoes
  3. 1/2 cup poppy seeds paste
  4. 1 big size onion
  5. 1/2 tbsp ginger paste
  6. 1 big size tomato
  7. 3 green chilli
  8. Salt to taste
  9. A pinch of termuric pd
  10. 1/2 tbsp sugar
  11. Oil


  1. Wash and peel off 3 sides of pointed guards and cut half .
  2. Now heat a kadai add oil and fry all pointed guards and potatoes on low to medium flame very well. And keep aside on plate.
  3. Now heat add oil if required then add panch foran and after crackle add chopped onion , grated ginger and cook until it turns golden brown.
  4. Now add chopped tomato, green chillis, salt ,termuric pd and cook nicely.
  5. Now add fried pointed guards and potatoes then cook 5 minutes more in low flame then add poppy seeds paste.
  6. Add little water and cook 2 minutes more mix well and turn off the flame.
  7. Serve with rice or roti.
