I steamed the urad dal vadas in idli mould,to avoid oil.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Urad dal 1/2cup.
  2. Moong dal 1/4cup.
  3. Curd 1cup.
  4. Red chilly powder.1tea spoon .
  5. Roadted cumin seed powder 1table spoon.
  6. Date_tamarind chutney 1table spoo.
  7. Salt 1tea spoon.
  8. Chat masala 1tea spoon .(optional)
  9. A pinch of soda bi carb.

Instructions

  1. Soak both the dal for 30 minutes.drain and wet grind to a smooth paste.
  2. Add soda bi carb and whisk well to a smooth and not hard consist ency.
  3. Grease an idly mould ,pour idlys over cups.
  4. Meanwhile heat the steamer for 5minutes.i used microwave oven ,so i heat the steamer on high power for 5minutes.
  5. Put mould in the oven and steam on maximum power for 3minutes.
  6. Aftet 3minutes check the vade by inserting a tooth pick into the vadas,if it do not comes out clean ,steam one more minute.
  7. Take out from steamer and rinse vadas into water for 5minutes.
  8. Meanwhile whisk curd along with oter ingredients exept date chutney.
  9. Arrange vadas on a serving dish,pour whisked curd over it and garnish with date tamarind chutney.
  10. Serve chilled.
