  • 4 green chilly
  • 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup ghee ( unsalted butter)
  • 1 tbs makki ka aata or wheat flour (optional)

How to make Sarso ka Saag

  1. clean sarso leave and palak leaves wash very well and cut
  2. wash and cut green chilly also
  3. take a cokker put both leaves salt as per your taste and put green chilly also
  4. now lid the cokker let wait for 1 whistle on full heat
  5. after 1 whistle reduce the flame to low and cook for 15 minutes
  6. now off heat Let it cool down then open lid
  7. leaves have already plenty water so boiling time no need to add water
  8. now we will mash this boiled mixture if you have the wooden stick masher mash with that
  9. if you don’t have that one you can grind in grinder
  10. traditionally we are adding 1 tbs makki aata while mashing but if you want to skip you can skip
  11. now cut tomatoes, ginger, garlic and onion finely
  12. now take a wok put butter for frying masala
  13. put ginger and garlic sauté for 30 seconds then add onion cook till pink colour
  14. then add tomatoes reduce flame and cook add red chili powder
  15. before adding salt or red chili powder you please taste that leaves mixture because we all add salt and green chilly
  16. so if required salt and then add in tomatoes masala otherwise no need to add
  17. cook this masala on low flame till masala cooked very well and start leaving pan
  18. than add this leaves purée and give a good mix
  19. cook on low heat 8 minutes and stir occasionally let the purée mix very well in that masala
  20. put butter for serving time and enjoy with makki ki roti or any any Indian Ritu

My Tip:

You can skip onion if you don’t want to add if you don’t have makki aata and you want to add then you can use wheat flour also otherwise you can skip
