Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Makai ki roti....
  2. Maize flour....3cup
  3. Salt...1teaspn
  4. For Sarso ka Saag...
  5. Sarso saag...400gm
  6. Spinach leaves...100gm
  7. Tomato...1(big)
  8. Onion...1
  9. Garlic...10 to 12
  10. Ginger paste...1tspn
  11. Maize flour...2 to 3 tspn
  12. Cumin powder...1tspn
  13. Green chilli...5
  14. Turmeric powder...1tspn
  15. Mustard oil...4to 5 tspn
  16. Dry red chilli...2
  17. Salt to taste
  18. Ghee....2tspn


  1. Clean the sarso leaves & spinach leaves.Remove stalk & separate the leaves from it.Boil sarso leaves & spinach leaves in hot water for few miNutes.
  2. Heat 2tspn mustard oil & then add chopped onion,tomato, garlic, green chilli & ginger paste.Saute it for a while.
  3. Coarsely grind the sarso & spinach leaves & add it to the onion mixture.
  4. Add salt & all spices.
  5. For tadka,heat 1tspn oil or ghee & fry 4green chilli, 1dry red chilli & 5 to 6 garlic.
  6. Add it to the saag mixture.Add 1 tspn ghee or butter over it.Sarso ka daag ready.
  7. For Makai ki roti, take maize flour in a mixing bowl.Add water & knead it well till it smooth.
  8. Now take small portion from dough.Roll it with the help of a roller pin.Heat a tawa, place the roti on it.Roast it till the surface of the roti turns dark.Flip it then & roast the another side also.Now for few seconds roast it on direct frame.
  9. Apply some ghee on roti & enjoy this delicious dish.
