About Sepu vadi Recipe

Its a famous himachali dish.It is urad dal balls in gravy full of spices and reduced curd.No oinion,garlic used in it

Ingredients to make Sepu vadi

  • curd one bowl
  • red chilli-2
  • jeera 1 tsp
  • Coriander1 tsp
  • turmeric -1/2 tsp
  • Green cardamom-2
  • Black cardamom-2
  • cloves-4
  • dalchini- small piece
  • saunf -1/2 tsp
  • clarified butter-2 tbsp
  • mustard oil-1 tbsp
  • palak puree-2tbsp
  • Urad vadi-6-7 pieces
  • salt as per taste
  • water 2 cups

How to make Sepu vadi

  1. Take clarified butter/desi ghee in pan,heat it.Add 2-3 red chillis as per taste.
  2. Then add jeera,dhania,saunf,cloves,dalchinni,black cardamom,green cardamom(can use in powder form too)
  3. After they crackle add turmeric,salt
  4. Then add one bowl curd( not very sour)
  5. Mix well
  6. After some time it will reduce and leave ghee on sides.
  7. In other pan ,heat mustard oil .Add palak pureee and cook well till oil comes on sides
  8. Now add vadi in it (soak this vadi in hot water for 15 min)
  9. Add curd mix too.cook it for sometime
  10. Next add water 2cups .let it simmer for few minutes .
  11. Can adjust the thickness /thinness of gravy by adding more water.once dersied gravy is made ,serve hot
