About Aloo Matar Recipe

Goes well with rotis and chapatis. Very tasty and easy.

Aloo Matar

Ingredients to make Aloo Matar

  • potatoes 5 medium cubed
  • Shelled peas 1 cup
  • onion 3 medium
  • tomato 2
  • ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • chilli powder 1 1/2 tbsp
  • ghee 3 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves

How to make Aloo Matar

  1. Soak green peas in hot water for 3 hours if you have not soaked it overnight then pressure cook it with cubed potatoes for 4 whistles. Keep aside.
  2. Chop onions roughly and grind it to a paste.
  3. Heat ghee in a kadai. Season with jeera and fry onions till it becomes golden brown in colour.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and fry for a few minutes. When the tomatoes become soft add ginger garlic paste. Fry well and add all spice powders.
  5. Pour enough water with boiled peas and potatoes. Cook till the gravy becomes thick.
  6. Serve hot. Garnish with coriander leaves.
