ABOUT Sabudana Momos !! RECIPE

A fasting recipe that I tried making with the modak mould

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the momos/modak
  2. Sago/Sabudana- 1 cup
  3. Salt to taste
  4. -------------------------------------
  5. For the stuffing
  6. Potato - boiled 1 big
  7. Jeera - 1 tspn
  8. Peanuts roasted and powdered- 2 tbspn
  9. Ghee- 1 tspn
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Curry leaves - few
  12. Ginger- 1/4 inch piece finely chopped
  13. Green chilly -1
  14. Coriander leaves for garnish
  15. Lemon juice - a few drops

Instructions

  1. Wash the sabudana and soak it in little water atleast for 2 hours...
  2. Then grind it...Put salt and mix well and knead it to a smooth dough
  3. Now for making the stuffing heat a kadhai...Put ghee...When hot add jeera and after it splutters add chopped ginger and curry leaves...Saute for a minute.
  4. Then add boiled and mashed potato
  5. In the meantime powder the peanuts with a green chilly...
  6. Now add this to the potato mixture...Put salt to taste.
  7. Mix well....Garnish with coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice...
  8. Your stuffing is ready
  9. Now grease your hands and the modak mould....Put some kneaded dough in it....Press it gently with your fingers from inside....
  10. Now add the stuffing and close the base with a flat piece of dough....Remove it carefully...make the remaining...
  11. Now steam it for five to seven minutes....In a cooker
  12. Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice
