Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. pumpkin-1 large piece
  2. Moong dal-1 cup
  3. salt- needed
  4. sambar powder-1 tsp
  5. water-1 cup
  6. For temper
  7. Cumin Seeds-1 tsp
  8. split urad dal- 1 tsp
  9. coriander leaves-1 tsp
  10. Jeera-1tsp
  11. To roast and grind:
  12. Chana dal-1/2 cup
  13. Red chilli-4
  14. dhaniya-1/2 cup


  1. cut the pumpkin into small pieces. then take a kadai and put a tbsp of oil. then add chana dal, dhaniya and red chilli. roast it and kept aside for 5 mins. then grind it.
  2. take a pressure cooker and put pumpkin pieces add a cup of moong dal, salt,sambar powder and add a cup of water and close the lid. put it for 5 whistles.
  3. then remove the whistle and add the roasted powder.
  4. then take a kadai add cumin seeds. after sputtering add urad dal , coriander leaves and jeera.
  5. our pumpkin kootu is ready and it is good for health.
