ABOUT Appala poo Curry RECIPE

This curry is a mix of urad dhal pappads and channa dhal

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Appala Poo or Pappad -250 gms
  2. Channa dhal - 1/2 cup
  3. Onion - 2 no
  4. Tomato - 1 no
  5. Garlic - 4 to 5 pieces
  6. Grated Coconut - 4 to 5 tablespoon
  7. Shallots - 6 to 7 no
  8. Saunf seeds - 1 tablespoon
  9. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tablespoon
  10. Chilli powder - 1 tablespoon
  11. Cinnamon stick - 1 no
  12. Cloves - 2 no
  13. Curry leaves- to temper
  14. Coriander leaves - to garnish
  15. oil - to fry the pappads
  16. Gingely oil - 2 to 3 tablespoon
  17. Salt - to taste

Instructions

  1. In a pan,add a tablespoon of oil to heat.Add cinnamon stick,cloves and curry leaves to splutter
  2. Add onions,tomatoes and crushed garlic to sauté
  3. Add turmeric powder,chilli powder and along
  4. Meanwhile Pressure cook the soaked channa dhal for 2 to 3 whistles in a medium flame and the cooked channa dhal to the pan
  5. Make a fine paste with saunf seeds,shallots and grated coconut.Add this coconut paste the curry
  6. Cook the curry for 5 minutes in a low flame
  7. Fry the pappads on the other side
  8. Switch Off the Curry stove. Broke the pappads into 2 to 3 pieces and add them to the curry
  9. Garnish with Coriander leaves and the Appala poo Curry is ready as a side dish
