Here I made these rice balls and later steamed it....and then gave a tempering with a slight twist.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour - 2 small katoris
  2. Ghee- about 2 tbspn
  3. Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
  4. Urad dal - 1 tspn
  5. Fresh grated coconut - 2 tbspn
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Water- 300 ml
  8. Curry leaves - few
  9. Dry red chillies- 2
  10. Asafoetida - 2 pinches
  11. Red chilly powder- 1/4 tspn
  12. Molgapodi- 1 tbspn


  1. Take the water in a pan or kadhai and keep it to boil.Put ghee and salt in it.
  2. Then once it boils turn the gas off...
  3. Add the rice flour in it.... Mix well...
  4. Close it with a lid...And keep aside for 5 minutes
  5. Next mix the rice flour well so that no lumps are there.
  6. Then grease your hands with ghee and make small balls of it.
  7. Later put these balls in a vessel and steam it for five to seven minutes...
  8. Now heat a pan put ghee in it...When hot add mustard seeds and split urad dal...
  9. Later add the dry red chilly,hing and curry leaves
  10. Now turn off the gas....Add the steamed rice balls in it...
  11. Then add red chilly powder,little salt ,grated coconut and molgapodi in it
  12. Gently toss everything so that it gets coated well with the spices....
  13. Serve as a snack to kids....They will love it
