Chilli Potatoes { Guntur Style }

ABOUT Chilli Potatoes { Guntur Style } RECIPE

Finger licking potato curry which can be prepared in minutes!! The blend of guntur red chilly with garlic enriches the flavor of the curry. It can be served with roti/chapati/hot steamed rice/slices of crusty bread.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Boiled potato , skin peeled off – 6 to 8 ( number ),
  2. Onion slices – 1/4 cup,
  3. Garlic cloves – 8 to 10 ,
  4. Guntur red chilli – 10 to 12 ( number ) ,
  5. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon,
  6. Coriander fruits – 1.5 teaspoons,
  7. Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon,
  8. Bengal gram dal – 1 teaspoon,
  9. Red chilly ( seasoning ) – 2 ,
  10. Turmeric powder – 2 pinches,
  11. Curry leaf – 2 sprigs,
  12. Salt to taste,
  13. Oil – 4 to 5 tablespoons.

Instructions

  1. Dice the boiled potatoes into cubes. Keep aside.
  2. In a dry mixie jar, add the coriander fruits, cumin seeds , garlic cloves and guntur red chilly. Make a paste of it by adding little water ( approximately 2 tablespoons ) .
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Sprinkle mustard seeds , bengal gram dal, cumin seeds , red chilli pieces and curry leaves. Once the seasoning turns golden in color , add the slices onions and fry until translucent. Then transfer the potato cubes to it.
  4. Add the blended chilli paste and sprinkle turmeric powder , some salt over it.
  5. Saute it well. Cover it with a lid and allow it to cook on a low flame for 5 to 8 minutes or until the aroma of the paste infuses well into the boiled veggie pieces.
  6. Turn off the flame. Transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with curry leaves.
  7. Serve hot with chapati/roti/rice.
