I have made a fusion of two lovely recipes ,aloo bonda and dahi vadas and believe me this dish turned out so yummy and tasty..

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. For the vadas
  2. 1/2 cup split urad dal
  3. 1/2 cup split moong dal
  4. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1/2 tsp ginger green chilli paste
  6. Pinch asafoetida
  7. Salt,to taste
  8. Oil,for frying
  9. For potato stuffing
  10. 3 boiled potatoes
  11. 1 onion
  12. 1 tsp ginger green chilli paste
  13. 1 tsp oil
  14. Pinch asafoetida
  15. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  16. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  17. 10-12 curry leaves
  18. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  19. 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  20. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  21. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  22. Salt,to taste
  23. 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  24. Others
  25. 1 1/2 cup curd
  26. 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  27. Rock salt
  28. Cumin powder
  29. Red chilli powder
  30. Imli chutney
  31. Salted boondi

Instructions

  1. Soak both the dals in water for 2-3 hours.
  2. To make potato stuffing,heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.
  3. Add mustard and cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  4. Add pinch asafoetida and Curry leaves and mix.
  5. Add chopped onions and saute till translucent.
  6. Add Ginger and green chillies paste.
  7. Add salt and all dry spices and mix.
  8. Mash boiled potatoes with hand and mix well in it..
  9. Add coriander leaves and switch off the gas.
  10. Blend the soaked dals in a mixer with very little water.
  11. Add salt,cumin seeds, asafoetida,Ginger green chilli paste and coriander leaves and mix well.
  12. Heat oil for frying in a wok.
  13. Make small discs with the potato mix.
  14. Coat these discs with the dal batter and put in oil slowly for frying.
  15. Fry these on medium flame till golden brown on both sides.
  16. After frying soak these vadas in lukewarm water for 2-3 mins
  17. Press them little to remove excess water.
  18. Add powdered sugar to the curd.
  19. Put the vadas in the curd.
  20. Put salt,cumin powder and red chilli powder on top.
  21. Add imli chutney and coriander leaves.
  22. Serve immediately or after chilling.
