ABOUT Spinach paratha with batata tamata nu shaak RECIPE

These two traditional dishes is a beautiful combination for a healthy scrumptious breakfast. Fresh chopped spinach has a unique flavour and smell that adds magic to the parathas alongwith some spices. Batata tamata nu shaak is a humble attempt to make the simple tasty gujrati potatoe tomatoe curry. I have added green peas as all at home enjoy its taste in any tomatoe based curry.im sure you will like it too.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For the paratha :
  2. 3 cups whole wheat flour
  3. 2 cups chopped spinach
  4. 1/4 cup curd
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Ghee 1/4 cup or more( for frying)
  7. 1 tsp Back salt
  8. 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  9. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. 1/2 tsp tumeric
  11. 2 chopped green chillies
  12. 1 tbsp oil
  13. For the batata tamata shaak :
  14. 3 large potatoes
  15. 3 large tomatoes
  16. 1/4 cup green peas ( fresh or frozen)
  17. 1 inch dalchini
  18. 3 cloves
  19. 2 cardamons
  20. 2 bay leaves
  21. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  22. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  23. 1 /2 tsp red chilli
  24. 1/4 tsp turmeric
  25. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  26. Salt
  27. Oil
  28. Water 2 cups

Instructions

  1. Firstly Add seasonings ,spice powders and green chillies to the wheat flour and mix well.
  2. Next add the finely chopped spinach and mix well
  3. Now add the curd and mix well
  4. Now mix and keep adding little water and form a dough and add a tbsp of oil
  5. Make a soft but stiff dough
  6. Cover and leave aside till you prepare the curry
  7. Heat oil in a pressure pan .Temper with mustard seeds .Next goes the cumin and whole spices .
  8. Now add the tomatoes and spice powders
  9. Cover and cook till soft
  10. Add the potatoes cut into large chunks and green peas mix adding salt
  11. Add water
  12. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Let pressure cool on its own .Open And ready to serve the deliciuos curry.
  13. Making the parathas:
  14. Make large lemon sized balls of the dough .Roll and dust in flour .Roll into thick chapatis
  15. Heat tawa till nice hot.put the paatha and roast on both sides till brown spots appear.
  16. Now apply generous amount of ghee and keep pressing with laddle on one side ,re peat the same on other side too
  17. Delicious soft palak parathas are ready to serve.make all the same way.
  18. Serve spinach parathas with batata tamata nu shaak and fresh curd or raita
