ABOUT Fresh Turmeric Amla Pickle RECIPE

Turmeric is highly regarded in Indian culture. According to Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric is a super healthy, curative herb. It has been used for thousands of years to treat stomach ailments, ulcers, liver problems, fever and as an antiseptic for wounds and sore throats.The pickle I made is a traditional Gujarati pickle. It is ayurvedic not only because of it’s health benefits but also in the sense that it has a balance of all flavours.As a pickle it goes great with just about anything. If you are eating a shaak or dal with some flatbread, you can add a little turmeric amla pickle for a pleasant crunch.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Fresh turmeric 100 gms
  2. Fresh ginger 50 gms
  3. Fresh Amla 100 gms
  4. Olive oil/vegetable oil 2 tbsp
  5. Lemon juice 3/4 cup
  6. Fenugreek seeds 2 tsp
  7. Mustard seeds 4 tsp
  8. Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  9. Salt as required.


  1. Prepare all the ingredients by shredding or slicing turmeric chop or slice up the amlas grate the ginger.
  2. Grind fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds to coarse powder.add fenugreek powder,mustard powder,red chilli powder,salt to the mixture.
  3. Add olive oil/ vegetable oil and lemon juice to the mixture.
  4. Mix the ingredients well..
  5. Let the flavors meld for at least one hour, but it is best after a day or two.
  6. You can store fresh pickle in clean glass bottle in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
  7. Ready to serve specially in winter...
