Buttery Fish with Potato

Ingredients to make Buttery Fish with Potato

  • Katla fish / Ruhi fish - 300 gm
  • potatoes - 2 medium ( cut length wise )
  • onion - 2 make a paste
  • ginger and garlic paste - 2 teaspoon
  • chilly paste - 2 teaspoon
  • tomato puree - 2 no
  • turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Whole garam masala -
  • bay leaf - 2 no
  • Garam masala powder - 1 teaspoon
  • mustard oil - 3 tablespoons
  • butter - 4 tablespoons

How to make Buttery Fish with Potato

  1. Clean the fish and marinate with salt and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Marinate the potatoes in similar way.
  2. Heat oil and 2 teaspoon of butter in a pan. Fry fish till it is nicely golden. Take out from oil and keep aside. Now fry potato. Take out and keep aside.
  3. In same oil, add whole garam masala, bay leaf. Add sugar, let it caramelize and now add onion paste.
  4. Fry until raw smell disappears and onion takes a nice brown colour. Add ginger and garlic paste.
  5. Cook until oil separates from the spice. Now take a bowl and mix remaining turmeric powder with 2 tbsp of water.
  6. Add the mixture with the spices. Cook until the water evaporates. Now add tomato puree.
  7. Add potatoes and salt , mix well , cook covered for the 5 minutes over low heat , add 1 cup of water and bring to boil .
  8. Cook covered for 4 - 5 minutes over low heat or until potatoes are cooked properly . Now add fish and cook for 2 - 3 minutes .
  9. Turn off the heat and again add the remaining butter and sprinkle garam masala powder. Cover with a lid/
  10. Buttery fish with potatoes is ready.
