Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Shallots 3 chopped
  2. Tomatoes 2 chopped
  3. Green chilly 1
  4. Dry red chilly 1
  5. Salt
  6. Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
  7. Tamarind 1 lemon size
  8. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  9. Black pepper corns 1/4 tsp
  10. Jeera 1/4 tsp
  11. Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp
  12. Chilly powder 1 tsp
  13. Garlic 6 pods
  14. Coriander leaves 2 tbsp chopped
  15. Curry leaves a bunch
  16. Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
  17. Coconut oil

Instructions

  1. First crush together pepper,fennel,jeera,garlic, and green chilly
  2. In a pan add oil,splutter mustards,dried chilly curry leaves
  3. Then add the crushed spices and saute it
  4. Then add the onions cook till translucent
  5. Now add tomatoes cook until mushy.add 2 cups water and let cook
  6. Add salt and tamarind according to taste
  7. Rasam should not boil
  8. Add asafoetida and garnish with coriander leaves
