Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tuvr dal 1/4 cup
  2. Tamarind small lemon size
  3. Tomato 2 small size
  4. Turmeric
  5. Salt
  6. Coriander leaves
  7. For Rasam powder
  8. Channa dal 1 tbsp
  9. coriander seeds 2 tbsp
  10. Red chillies 4-5
  11. Pepper 1 tsp
  12. Jeera 1 tsp
  13. Methi 1/2 tsp
  14. Hing
  15. Coconut 4-5 tbsp
  16. For seasoning Ghee
  17. Jeera
  18. Hing
  19. curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak small lemon size Tamarind for 15 mins
  2. Extract tamarind juice
  3. Pressure cook 1/4 Cup Tuvr dal and Tomatoes 2
  4. Mash dal and Tomatoes
  5. Take 2 tbsp Coriander seeds, 1 tbsp Channa dal, 1 TSP pepper, 1 TSP jeera, hing , 5 red chillies and 1/2 TSP Methi
  6. Heat Sesame oil and roast the masala till you get good aroma
  7. Add grated coconut. Roast them till you get good aroma
  8. Cool the masala and grind to fine powder
  9. Add masala to tamarind extract. Add salt and Turmeric. Boil the mixture
  10. When the rasam is boiled add mashed dal and Tomatoes
  11. Add Coriander leaves
  12. When a frothy layer is formed turn off the flame
  13. Prepare Seasoning with Ghee, Jeera, hing and Curry leaves
  14. Add to rasam and serve hot
