ABOUT Tricolor Dal pakwan RECIPE

Dal pakwan is a dish which belong to Sindhi cuisine. Kids like colours that's why I use three colour for making pakwan, green colour comes from spinach and red colour comes from beetroot and yellow colour from turmeric powder. Let's know how to make?

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For pakwan-
  2. 1 cup refined flour
  3. 2 tablespoon semolina
  4. Salt according to taste
  5. One big spoon full oil
  6. 3 tbsp beetroot puree
  7. 3 tbsp spinach puree
  8. One teaspoon turmeric powder
  9. Oil for frying
  10. For Dal-
  11. Half cup moong dal
  12. 2 tablespoon chana dal soaked in hot water
  13. One teaspoon turmeric powder
  14. Salt according to taste
  15. 1 Teaspoon clarified butter
  16. Water as required
  17. For Tadka-
  18. 2 tbsp clarified butter
  19. One teaspoon cumeen seeds
  20. Half teaspoon asafoetida
  21. Half teaspoon red chilli powder
  22. Half teaspoon garam masala powder
  23. One onion chopped
  24. One green chilli chopped if you like
  25. Papad and chutney for serving

Instructions

  1. First wash mung Dal and chana dal.
  2. In a cooker add moong dal and chana dal,salt,turmeric powder and one teaspoon clarified butter.
  3. Add some water and boil it till two whistle.
  4. In other hand take a big plate add refined flour,semolina and salt.
  5. Divide this mixture in 3 part.
  6. In first part add spinach puree and some water, kneed a tight dough.
  7. In second part add beetroot puree and some water, kneed a tight dough.
  8. In third part mix turmeric powder, kneed tight dough with using water.
  9. Now make oval shape with these three parts.
  10. Joint the oval shapes.
  11. Cut small pedas with this roll.
  12. Roll it like thin Puri.
  13. Prick it with using fork.
  14. In a wok hot oil.
  15. Fry these pakwan on medium heat till crispy.
  16. Now for dal tadka heat a pan add clarified butter.
  17. Splutter cumeen seeds and asafoetida.
  18. Switch off the flame, mix red chilli powder and garam masala powder.
  19. Mix this tadka in boil dal.
  20. Fry papad in hot oil.
  21. For serving take Dal in a bowl and put some onion and green chilli over it.
  22. Tricolour pakwan serve with Dal,papad, chutney and mooli lachha.
