Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Urad Dal - 1 cup
  2. For the Masala:
  3. 2 onions
  4. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 6 red chillies
  6. Dry Mango chunks 2-3
  7. Oil as required
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  10. Curry leaves 4-5

Instructions

  1. Soak the urad dal in water for 2 hours. Then soak the dry mango chunk in a cup of water too.
  2. Wash and grind the urad dal to form a nice thick paste with some salt. Keep it aside.
  3. Take a kadai, add some oil to heat. Then add the mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  4. Next add the grounded masala paste and stir fry for a minute. Then add in the mango chunks with the soaked water.
  5. Stir fry for this for a few minutes, then add 5 to 6 cups of water and salt to taste.
  6. Let it come to a boil, while it's boiling add small lumps of the urad batter into the curry. Let it simmer and cook for a while.
  7. Take out a wadi and check if it's cooked from the inside. Adjust the salt as per taste.
  8. Serve it with hot steamed rice.
