Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Leftover idli/ Dosa batter (either of the two or both mixed) 2 cups
  2. Chopped onions 1 cup
  3. Grated carrot 1/2 cup
  4. Green chilli chopped 2
  5. Curry leaves chopped 7-8
  6. Mustard and cumin seeds 1tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Oil as required
  9. Turmeric 1/4 tsp


  1. In a pan pour 1 tbsp of oil and add mustard and cumin seeds
  2. After they splutter add all the vegetables
  3. Add turmeric and salt and let the vegetables cook till soft
  4. In a bowl ready the idli Dosa batter and check for pouring consistency
  5. Add the vegetables mix to the batter
  6. Take appam stand and pour oil in the moulds
  7. Once the oil heats, add a spoonful of batter mix in each of the mould
  8. Let the ponganalu cook
  9. Flip the ponganalu to cook evenly on all sides
  10. Serve hot with chutney
