Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. onions chopped 6
  2. tomatoes 2 chopped
  3. Green chillies 3(slit)
  4. Prawns 250 gms
  5. curd 1/4 cup
  6. turmeric powder 1tsp
  7. chilli powder 1tbsp
  8. Garam masala 2 tbsp
  9. ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
  10. coriander leaves (handful)
  11. mint leaves (handful)
  12. Basmati rice 2 cups
  13. cardamom 3(whole spice)
  14. cloves 3
  15. cinnamon 2
  16. Oil and ghee as required
  17. salt as required
  18. 1 lemon


  1. Heat a pan ,pour oil and ghee Add whole spices
  2. Add chopped onions saute well until it becomes translucent
  3. Add tomatoes chillies and prawns saute it well
  4. Add coriander and mint leaves mix well and add turmeric powder ,salt and ginger garlic paste saute well
  5. Add garam masala saute well
  6. When raw smell of masala goes add curd and lemon juice
  7. Finally add red chilli powder mix well
  8. Wash the rice and keep it aside
  9. Add 4 cups of water for 2 cups rice let it cook in high to medium flame
  10. After the rice half cooked keep it in dum (the flame should be low and place a tawa below the pan )
  11. Close the lid....keep it well cooked
  12. Serve with raita/boiled egg/salad
