Pomfret fish in a lovely coconut and mustard gravy.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Pompfet fish pieces - 6
  2. Mustard coconut paste - 2 tbsp
  3. Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  5. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Jeera Powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Kalaunji - 1/4 tsp
  8. Mustard oil as required
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Green Chillies - 2
  11. Mustard and coconut paste:
  12. Mustard seeds - 2 tbsp
  13. Grated coconut - 3 tbsp
  14. Green chillies - 3
  15. Sugar - 1 tbsp
  16. Salt - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Make paste of all the ingredients above with little water.
  2. Marinate the fish pieces with little turmeric powder and salt. Deep fry them in mustard oil. Keep aside.
  3. In the same oil, add slit green chillies and kalaunji.
  4. Add the ginger paste and saute.
  5. Make a paste of all the powdered masalas with a little water and add this into the oil.
  6. Now stir for 2 minutes and then add water. Bring to a boil and add the cooked fish pieces.
  7. Add the mustard coconut paste, salt. Cook for a few minutes more and then serve.
