Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Boiled rice - 1/2 cup
  2. Raw rice - 1/2 cup
  3. Urad dhal - 1 cup
  4. Sour curd - 3/4 cup
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Other ingredients:
  7. Crushed pepper - 1 tbsp
  8. Crushed cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
  9. For wet grinding:
  10. Green chillies - 6 (finely chopped)
  11. Coconut gratings - 1/4 cup
  12. Small onions - 2
  13. Gingelly oil for greasing the idli moulds

Instructions

  1. Wash both rice and urad dhal and soak for about five to six hours.
  2. Grind coarsely adding enough water and salt .
  3. Keep for fermentation over night .
  4. Mix all the other ingredients and the ground coconut paste to the batter and mix well.
  5. Pour the batter in a well greased idli moulds and steam for 20 to 30 minutes.. When cooked, remove from flame.
  6. Coconut chutney idli is ready to serve.
  7. Serve hot with sambar.
