ABOUT Shakarkand ki Tikki RECIPE

The very tasty healthy kand from the family of potatoes but is sweet and liked by one an all called Shakarkand. Used here in making Tikkis to break monotony of potatoes in Navratri.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 grams Shakarkand /Sweet potatoes
  2. 2 small potatoes
  3. 2 tbsp singhara atta
  4. 1 tbsp sendha salt/ rock salt
  5. 1 tsp cumin powder
  6. 1 tsp red chilli powder as per taste
  7. 2 tbsp Oil or ghee of preference
  8. Coriander chopped
  9. 1 tsp Mango powder

Instructions

  1. Boil the Shakarkand/sweet potatoes and cool peel and keep aside.
  2. Boil potatoes, cool, peel and keep aside.
  3. Chop coriander fine.
  4. Take a bowl to mash sweet potatoes well and mash the potatoes too, mix both.
  5. Add salt, red chilli powder and cumin powder to the mash and mix mash well into dough.
  6. Add the mango powder now.
  7. To the dough, add singhara atta and coriander chopped, mix well.
  8. Now grease palms and make soft balls from this dough and press into tikkis.
  9. Heat oil in shallow pan.
  10. Slow flame and start shallow frying tikkis turning sides lightly.
  11. Remove when golden brown and serve with any chutney of choice.
