ABOUT Sweet and Sour Fish RECIPE

Sweet and sour fish is very popular Chinese dish. It can be made in different ways. Here I used orange and red wine vinegar to get both sweet and sour flavours.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Fish fillets-2 (big, cut into cubes)
  2. Corn flour-1/4 cup
  3. Soya sauce-4 teaspoons
  4. Tomato sauce-2 teaspoon
  5. Red wine vinegar-2 tablespoons
  6. Onions-1 (cut into cube size)
  7. Green, Red and Yellow bell pepper-1cup (cut into cube size )
  8. Garlic -6 cloves (chopped)
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Honey-1 teaspoon
  11. Orange juice-1/2 cup
  12. Oil -1 cup
  13. Black pepper powder-1/2 teaspoon
  14. Sesame seeds -2 teaspoon (roasted)
  15. Spring onions (chopped )-1/4 cup


  1. Take 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoon corn flour, salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Add fish pieces in this mixture and miss well. Keep them aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in wok and deep fry the fish pieces until golden brown. Fry fish pieces in batches according to the size of your wok.
  4. Now add 2 tablespoon oil in another pan (try to take oil from the oil used for frying fish pieces ).
  5. Add garlic cloves, fry until light brown. Add orange juice, soya sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar and stir fry. Add salt, honey and all bell peppers and onions. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Dissolve remaining cornflour into warm water, mix and add to the pan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  6. Add fried fish pieces gradually, mix with gravy. Cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Switch off the gas. Add roasted sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
  8. Serve hot with Chinese fried rice.
