Chana Masala Sandwiches

Ingredients to make Chana Masala Sandwiches

  • Chana or black gram 2 cups soaked and boiled
  • chana masala 2 to 3 tbsp
  • onion 1 large chopped finely
  • Black mustard seeds a tsp
  • turmeric a pinch
  • Dry red chillies 3 to 4
  • garam masala a tsp
  • coriander for garnishing
  • If not using chana masala, then add ginger powder 1/2 tsp, asafoetida 1/4 th tsp, dry mango powder a tsp, coriander and cumin powders a tsp each, dry red chillies roasted and powdered 1 black salt 1/2 tsp, pomegranate (anardana) powder a tsp, cinnamon cardamom and cloves 2 each ground well.

How to make Chana Masala Sandwiches

  1. Boil the chana with a tsp salt and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and the dry red chillies.
  3. Add the onion and saute well.
  4. Add the chana masala and the boiled chana now.
  5. Cover and let it cook until 3 to 4 mins.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander and some lemon juice
  7. Eat it as it is or can make yum sandwiches for your family.

My Tip:

Soak the chana for at least 4 hours. Can pressure cook also, but it is usually done in no time even if you prefer boiling. Can add any chutney or ketchup for the extra zing. I used chili garlic ketchup
