Crispy Calamari with Chilli- Garlic Tomato Sauce

ABOUT Crispy Calamari with Chilli- Garlic Tomato Sauce RECIPE

Most enjoyed hot. Goes well with ketchup and mayonnaise too. A quick appetizer for seafood lovers.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Calamari or squids , 1 kg. Cleaned and cut into rings
  2. 1 cup flour, refined
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Pepper , 1/2 tsp
  5. Juice of 1 lime.
  6. Oil for frying
  7. For Sauce
  8. 1 tsp chilli flakes , less if you like
  9. 8- 10 garlic pods
  10. 3 plump red tomatoes
  11. 2 tblsp oil
  12. Salt
  13. Pepper

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash calamari rings. Season with salt , pepper and lime juice.
  2. In a kadhai or wok , pour oil until it's half. Place on medium heat
  3. Toss a few calamari rings at a time into the flour. And gently drop them in moderately hot oil.
  4. Fry until it reaches a nice golden brown colour .
  5. Drain on absorbent kitchen towel. Serve hot with a wedge of lime and chilly -garlic tomato sauce.
  6. For the sauce. Chop tomatoes. Mince garlic. Keep aside.
  7. In a small pan , heat oil. Saute minced garlic until raw flavour is gone. Do not brown.
  8. Add chilly flakes and fry for 1 min. Quickly add chopped tomatoes. Season. Simmer for a few minutes. Serve along with crispy calamari.
