Ingredients to make Mawa Baati

  • mawa ( khoya) 250 grams
  • sugar 250 grams ( for syrup)
  • White flour (maida) 2 table spoons
  • sooji (rawa) 1 tablespoon
  • cardamoms 6-7 ( powdered )
  • Orange food colour 1/4 tea spoon
  • ghee for frying
  • water 1 glass

How to make Mawa Baati

  1. Take sugar and water in a pan. Boil to get a syrup of one string consistency. ( For testing , take a drop of syrup, check between thumb and index finger)
  2. Mash mawa for 10 mins .
  3. Mix white flour, sooji and cardamom powder in mashed mawa. Mix well, mash it again for 5 mins.
  4. Divide mixture into two.
  5. Mix Orange colour in one half of the mixture.
  6. Take big piece on palm , press lightly with both the palms. Put small piece of coloured mixture in the center of big piece. Cover small part with big part, make oval /round shape.
  7. Make all pieces as above
  8. Heat ghee in pan, fry all baaties (5-6) at a time. Fry all baatis
  9. Add fried baatis to sugar syrup and soak for 20 minutes
  10. Serve in a bowl.

My Tip:

Quantity of flour depends on mawa. If mawa is home made then take 70-80 gms of white flour else take 2-3 spoons of flour
