ABOUT #Beetroot Kaanji RECIPE

A winter preparation in north india. Water is fermented using mustard seeds and beautiful appealing colour with beetroot or black carrot.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Water 7 glasses
  2. Beetroot 1
  3. Salt 2 tsp heaped
  4. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Boil water and let it cool.
  2. Ground mustard seeds.
  3. Cut beetroot into long thin strips.
  4. Add beetroot, salt, mustard seeds powder and red chilli powder in cooled water.
  5. Fill in clean glass jar.
  6. Place the jar in Sun light for four days.
  7. The water will get fermented tasting sour and spicy.
