Dal- Vegetable Shorba

Ingredients to make Dal- Vegetable Shorba

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato chopped
  • 2 tbsp carrot chopped
  • 1 tsp raw turmeric,grated
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3/4 cup yellow moong dal
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1 tsp butter or oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
  • salt to taste

How to make Dal- Vegetable Shorba

  1. Heat the pressure cooker, add 2-3 cups of water, add washed and soaked moong dal, salt and turmeric. Cook for one whistle and keep aside. After few mins open the lid and mash lightly with the laddle. You can add more boiled water if required.
  2. Heat the butter in a pan and add the cumin seeds.When the seeds crackle, add ginger garlic paste and onions and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato,corn,carrots,pepper, green chilly and cook for 2-3 mins. ( veggies should remain crunchy)
  4. Add this tadka to boiled dal and cook for one boil. Remove from flame, add the lemon juice, coriander leaves and mix well. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Add vegetables and adjust the consistancy of shorba according to your choice.
