ABOUT Potato Twisters RECIPE

Potato Twisters or Tornado Fries as it's famously known, are made by skewering the whole potato, and then cutting with spiral slicer. The potato is spread evenly along the skewer, deep fried and sprinkled with dry seasonings like chilly powder or pepper powder.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Baby potatoes - 6
  2. Gram flour (besan) - 1cup
  3. Cooking soda - one pinch Turmeric powder
  4. Chilly powder - to taste
  5. Salt - according to taste
  6. Chilly powder - a pinch for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the batter slightly thinner than regular thick batters used for bajji/ bondas (potato fritters) by mixing besan, chilly powder, cooking soda and salt.
  2. Wash the potatoes. Insert skewer and cut the potato in spirals using edge of sharp kitchen knife.
  3. Dip them in batter and shake the excess batter. Fry in hot oil till crisp and golden brown.
  4. Sprinkle any spice of your choice like pepper powder or chilly powder or just enjoy the plain ones.
  5. Serve hot.
