My mil's recipe, my hubby's one of the favorites.a complete meal .

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1/2 cup rice
  2. 5 big tomatoes
  3. 2 big potatoes
  4. 8-10 florets of cauliflower
  5. 10-12 ladyfingers
  6. 1 green chilli, cut in pieces
  7. 1/2 tsp whole jeera
  8. 1/2 tsp methidana seeds
  9. Pinch asafoetida
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Coriander leaves ,for garnishing


  1. Peel potatoes, cube them.wash and cut the ends of ladyfinger and slit them.keep the vegetables aside .
  2. Blanch the tomatoes and make a puree and sieve it.
  3. In a pressure cooker , take some oil.lightly saute the vegetables, and keep them aside.you can add any other vegetables of your choice too.
  4. In the same oil, add jeera, methi dana ,curry leaves ,green chillies and asafoetida.add tomato puree to the same.
  5. Add the vegetables and rice ,adequate water to keep the end product liquid consistency.add salt to taste.
  6. Close the pressure cooker and after one whistle,let simmer for 15 mins.
  7. Let the pressure go off on own, open the cooker and serve hot.
