My moms cook book is my 'Alma Mater'. This recipe is a family favourite , easy and quick but has a unique flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Chicken legs 2 cut into 4 pieces
  2. Ginger and garlic paste 1/2 tsp. each
  3. Chilly powder 1/2 tsp.
  4. Pepper 1/2 tsp.
  5. Garam masala 1/2 tsp.
  6. 1 1/2 tbsp Tomato sauce
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 3 tbsp. Oil
  9. Bay leaf 1
  10. Cinnamon 1
  11. 1 medium sized Onion cut into thin slices


  1. Wash and pat dry the chicken pieces. Marinate chicken pieces by adding salt, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste for 10 minutes.
  2. Take a thick bottom pan and add oil along with sugar. Allow this to caramelize.
  3. Start to add one by one the whole condiments. To this add onions and on medium flame fry for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Now add chicken pieces and fry till they turn brown on all sides. Cook covered until chicken is completely cooked.
  5. Add in sauce, pepper and garam masala. On medium flame fry till chicken turn tender.
