Naan is one of the popular traditional flatbreads of india baked in Tandoor. The word naan is derived from persian word nan which means bread. In Afghanistan, Tandoor was used as a community oven where people would come with a dough and nan waee ( naan baker) would bake for some fee. The traditional naans were seen in Teardrop shape. But actually naan got this shape because of slapping a round ball of dough onto the hot surface of outside the oven. Due to the soft pillow kind of dough, the dough would come down little bit and gets this shape. Now a days, naan is made in dufferent shapes like round, oblong or triangle.
My fav kind of naan!
