  • 2 cups - wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup - urad dal (Dehusked)
  • 1/4 tsp - fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp - red chilly powder
  • 1/2 cup - Warm water
  • salt as per taste

  • flour for dusting

How to make Urad Dal Roti/Stuffed Urad Dal Paratha

  1. Take the wheat flour with salt in a large bowl, gradually add the warm water and knead a smooth and soft dough. Keep aside for half an hour.
  2. Meanwhile grind the soaked Urad dal with fennel seeds and salt. You should get a coarse paste, avoid adding any water.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add the chilly powder, ground urad dal paste and cook on a medium flame for few minutes until the paste gets well roasted. Let it cool completely.
  4. Make medium sized balls from the dough and small sized balls from the urad dal mixture. Roll the dough as small circles, drop a ball of urad dal filling in the middle, bring the edges together and make a ball.
  5. Dust the dough with flour and roll them as parathas. Heat a tawa, drop gently the rolled parathas, drizzle few drops of oil, cook on both sides until they get slightly browned (well toasted).
  6. Enjoy warm with any sort of chutneys or curd.
