The scientific name of catfish is Wallago attu a.k.a. helicopter catfish or wallago catfish. This creamy recipe is liked by many people. This one is worth a try.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For marinating the fish :
  2. Wallago catfish 8 pieces
  3. Salt as required
  4. Turmeric powder 2 teaspoon
  5. Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon
  6. For gravy :
  7. 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks
  8. 2 big onions paste
  9. Ginger and garlic paste 2 tablespoons
  10. Yogurt 2 Tablespoons
  11. Tomato puree ½ cup
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Red chilli powder 2 teaspoons
  14. Coriander powder 1 teaspoons
  15. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoons
  16. Pinch of sugar
  17. Some cashew nuts
  18. Some Raisins

Instructions

  1. Wash the fish and marinate with salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and keep it for 15 minutes.
  2. Take a pan and heat the oil. Fry the marinated fish in both sides. Keep aside.
  3. At the same time take another pan. Heat the oil and fry cinnamon sticks.
  4. Add onions paste and fry until brown.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste and mix.
  6. Now add thick curd and salt. Mix very well.
  7. Next add tomato puree and mix.
  8. Now add all the masala powder like red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and pinch of sugar.
  9. Add some water.
  10. Add some cashew nuts and raisins.
  11. Now add the fried fishes gently.
  12. When the gravy is thick serve hot.

I have never eaten Catfish. But gravy is nice. So must be your Fish.
