Spinach with curd /Patal-bhaji

Ingredients to make Spinach with curd /Patal-bhaji

  • spinach leaves chopped 2 cups
  • curd 1 small cup (150 grams)
  • water 400 milliliter
  • Split gram flour 2 tablespoon
  • green chillies 2 cut into small pieces
  • jaggery crushed 2 teaspoon or adjust as per taste
  • Groundnut 2 tablespoon
  • Dry coconut slices 1 tablespoon
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • oil 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seeds few
  • For tadka:
  • oil 1 1/2 tablespoon
  • mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • sesame seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • asafoetida (hing) a pinch
  • garlic cloves 7-8 cut into pieces
  • Split red chillies 2 nos

How to make Spinach with curd /Patal-bhaji

  1. Take cleaned washed and chopped spinach in microwave safe bowl and cook on high powder without lid.
  2. Let it cool.
  3. Same way microwave groundnut with little water for 2 minutes
  4. Add curd, water, jaggery, gram flour and salt to spinach and blend just for 3-4 seconds, make a puree.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan add few mustard seeds when they splutter add green chillies, boiled groundnut , dry coconut slices.. sauté for 2 minute on low heat.
  6. Add turmeric powder and red chilly powder
  7. Add spinach puree.
  8. Keep stirring continuously . Bring the mixture to boil on low medium heat for 3-4 minute.
  9. Remove from heat.
  10. In a tadka pan heat oil add mustard seeds, sesame seeds and cumin seeds, wait till splutter then add asafoetida, garlic pieces and fry till light brown, add slit red chillies.
  11. Immediately pour this tadka in boiled spinach mixture. Serve hot with chapati/ rice.
