ABOUT Mango pulissery RECIPE

A south Indian curry made with mangoes, coconut and curd.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Ripe mangoes - small 10 or big 5
  2. Freshly grated 1/2 coconut
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Turmeric powder as required
  5. Red chilli powder as required
  6. Jaggery 3 tbsp
  7. Cumin seeds 1-2 tsp
  8. Curd 1 cup
  9. Orange coloured cucumbers- cut into small pieces and boiled - 1/4 cup
  10. Coconut oil 3 tbsp
  11. Dried red chillies as required
  12. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  13. Curry leaves 1 sprig

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the mangoes to separate the juice and keep aside (the seeds should still be in the juice)
  2. Boil the mangoes with salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and jaggery until it cooks, adding a little water if required
  3. Grind together coconut, curd and cumin seeds into a fine paste....
  4. Add boiled cucumbers into the mango mixture..
  5. Add coconut mixture into the mango mixture and cook until it is just heated and switch off the flame
  6. For tempering heat the coconut oil
  7. Add mustard seeds into it and let it splutter
  8. Tear curry leaves and red chillies and add it into the oil... switch the flame off
  9. Add the tempered mixture into the curry and mix..
