Just because it's a cake, doesn't mean it has to be sweet..... cheese, veggies, olives and lentils can all be used to create a very tasty cake indeed.. This cake is very easy and very delicious and perfect for tea time snacks

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 1/2 cup split green gram (Moong daal)
  2. 1 1/2 cup split red lentil (masoor daal)
  3. 1 cup shredded carrot or cabbage
  4. 1 cup curd
  5. 1/4 cup grated coconut
  6. 1/2 cup chopped coriander
  7. 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  8. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  9. 1 tsp green chilli- ginger paste
  10. 2 tablespoon olive oil
  11. 1/4 tsp soda
  12. 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  13. Salt according to taste
  14. Ingredients of Cheese mousse for frosting :
  15. 1 cup cream cheese
  16. 1/2 cup thick curd
  17. 1/4 cup fresh cream
  18. 1 tea spoon mixed herbs (thyme, oregano, bail.. Etc)
  19. Pepper according to taste
  20. Salt according to taste


  1. Soak both the grams for 3 hours. Grind in a fine paste.
  2. Add salt, shredded carrot and ginger-chilli paste, curd, coconut, salt , asafoetida and turmeric, Mix well. Cover and keep aside for 4 hours.
  3. Heat oil and 1/4 cup of water in a small bowl. Hold it on the batter and mix soda. It will bubble instantly. Mix it in the batter.
  4. Take a baking pan. Grease and dust it. Pour the prepared batter in it. Bake it at 200 degree C for 40 minutes, until it forms a golden brown crust. Cool it
  5. Unmold and decorate it
  6. Method of mousse :
  7. Combine the mousse ingredients in a bowl and whip until the mixture is smooth and forms peaks.
  8. Decorating:
  9. Cut the cake in 3 layer, apply mousse on first layer arrange sliced cucumber.
  10. Put second slice apply mousse arrange onion and tomatoes.
  11. Cover with third layer and decorate with cheese slice flower.
  12. Serve.
