Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Green peas 1 cup
  2. Moong chilka dal 1 cup
  3. Chana dal 1/4 cup
  4. Green chilies 3-4
  5. Spinach puree 1/2 cup
  6. Ginger 1 small piece
  7. Garlic cloves 4 or 5
  8. Coriander leaves 1 cup
  9. Sesame or olive oil for frying
  10. Asafoetida 1 pinch
  11. Sesame seeds 1 tablespoon


  1. Soak both dals for 4 to 5 hours, strain the water and keep aside
  2. Grind all ingredients with 1 table spoon oil to a smooth paste
  3. Pour batter in a greased plate. Sprinkle sesame seeds on the top. It should be steamed for 10 to 15 minutes
  4. Cool and cut in desired shape
  5. Deep or shallow fry these pieces until slightly brown and crisp.
  6. Serve green cake pieces wit tomato sauce or chutney. Sprinkle chat masala on top for additional taste
