Ingredients to make Green peas nimona (crispy green peas and potato curry)

  • Green peas 2 cup
  • potato 2 cut into small pieces
  • onion 1
  • ginger 1 inch piece
  • garlic 6 pods
  • tomatoes 2
  • Green chilli 1
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  • mustard oil 3 tablespoons
  • coriander for garnishing

How to make Green peas nimona (crispy green peas and potato curry)

  1. Put 1 cup peas in a blender and crush coarsely, boil another 1 cup for few minutes so that they become tender.
  2. Put mustard oil in a pan and heat upto smoking point and add potatoes for frying. When they are done remove from pan.
  3. After this cut green chilli, onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes and put into a mixer, make a fine puree.
  4. Now add asafoetida into the remaining hot oil in pan and add puree. Cook it till it leaves the oil.
  5. Now add salt, turmeric and red chilli powder, mix well​. Now add crushed and boiled peas. And cook for 5 minutes. So that its raw flavour goes.
  6. Stir constantly. And add fried potatoes to this and mix well. Add 1 cup water. And cook it with covered lid for 5 minutes.
  7. Stir constantly and if needed add more water. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  8. Your green peas nimona is ready. Serve with chapati or Paratha. Garnish with coriander.

My Tip:

When you add crushed peas carefully stir it constantly otherwise they will stick to the bottom.
